Creme Brulee

Hey there! So I said that I would begin posting recipes here. This one has become one of my favorites. Before trying this recipe I had never even eaten creme brûlée before. I made it for one of my co-workers, who said it was one of her favorite things, for a "box buddy" gift. I searched through a ton of recipes and they were all so complicated. They involved torches and double boilers. All things I do not have time for. Then I came across a magically simple recipe from A Sweet Pea Chef. It's an easy recipe to follow and the end result is amazing! I got major compliments on this indulgent dessert. Here it is:

You will need:
2 cups heavy cream
5 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbs vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 325 F
-Whisk cream, egg yolks (separate yolks from whites), sugar and vanilla until thick and creamy
- Pour mixture into ramekins, place into a baking dish (I used a brownie pan)
- Fill the baking dish halfway up ramekins with hot water
- Bake 45 mins then check every 15 mins (check by sticking a knife into the center; when it comes out almost clean they're ready)
- Let cool 15 mins
- Fill baking dish less than halfway up ramekins with cold water
- Sprinkle sugar over tops of custard
- Broil for 1 min
